Italy’s
Matteo Berrettini received an interesting gift card.
The 28-year-old is currently taking part at the Indian Wells, where he is featured
in the singles and doubles categories. In the singles category, his journey
ended in round 32, where he lost to Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight
sets with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
In the doubles category, Berrettini is still very much alive
as he and his partner Lorenzo Sonego have booked their place in the
quarterfinal after beating the pair of Patrik Trhac and Ryan Seggerman in
straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
During all of that, Berrettini received an interesting gift
card worth of $15. The reason was receiving that card was because the Italian
tennis player won a hilarious competition on the Nothing Major podcast where
former tennis players Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey are amongst the hots.
Berrettini and his partner Sonego will now face the pair of
Croatia’s Mate Pavic and Marcelo Arevalo in the last-eight of the competition
on Wednesday. They defeated the pair of Czech Republic’s Tomas Machac and
Britain’s Jack Draper in the round of 16 in straight sets with a score of 6-1,
7-5. Regardless of whatever happens in the doubles category, Berrettini will be
disappointed with his overall performance, especially in the singles category,
largely because he arrived into the competition on the back of some impressive
performances. His most recent outing before arriving at the Indian Wells was at
the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship where he was knocked after losing in
the quarterfinal to Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas with a score of 7-6, 1-6, 6-4.
