Alexander Zverev is still hopeful about playing at the US Open as the German works his way back from a horrific ankle injury.
The 2022 Roland Garros will forever be remembered by Zverev as the one that got away. The German played superb tennis in the event but a terrible ankle injury crushed his plans of winning his first grand slam. Since then, Zverev has worked tirelessly to get back in top shape so he could return to the courts.
Speaking at a press conferecen in Hamburg Zverev admitted he hopes to make it to Flushing Meadows:
"Of course, I will still try to make the US Open. Although it will be very, very close. Maybe I could say I'm ready. Best-of-five is difficult. Every day it really gets better. That's why I don't want to say yet that I won't play the US Open."
The US Open begins on August 29th.
