Medvedev advanced into the semifinals at the Shanghai Masters after defeating Fognini

Daniil Medvedev successfully won a quarterfinal match at the Shanghai Masters, defeating Fabio Fognini 6-3 and 7-6 in an hour and 28 minutes.

The Russian came to the tournament in China after the triumph in St Petersburg, where he did not lose a set. Nor has he lost a set so far in Shanghai, so he has the series of 7 games without a lost set.

After winning over Norrie in the second round and Pospisil in the third, the fourth player of the ATP ranking faced Fabio Fognini. Medvedev controlled the match from start to finish when he didn't let his opponent to get to any break ball.

Medvedev maintained a high level of 1st serve, winning a total of 91% points after his first service. In the first set he won 6-3 and since he did not take advantage of 3 break balls in the second, tie-break had to decide. The US Open finalist didn't hesitate and won it 7-4. Medvedev thus advanced to the semifinals at the Shanghai Masters, where he will meet the winner of the match between Djokovic and Tsitsipas.
