Daniil Medvedev was swift in his victory over
Diego Schwartzman to reach the semifinal of the
Paris Masters.
It seems like Daniil Medvedev has found his form again in Paris where he defeated Schwartzman today 6-3 6-1 in only 64 minutes. It was a stellar performance from the start where Medvedev frustrated Diego early with his style of play. The Argentinian tried to hit many cross-court shots in order to make the Russian move a lot but the Russian used his tall frame to cover a large amount of ground. Diego could not produce winners quick enough and the pints would usually wend with the Russian winning with a passing shot at the net. The first set was an example of that with the Russian winning two breaks to win it 6-3.
The 2nd set was an even greater example of that with the Argentinian now rushing in points and committing even more mistakes. Medvedev was comfortable the whole time as he could see the discomfort of Diego grow. He was superb on his own serve hitting big shots when he needed. All in all, it was a stark comparison between two players with different styles of play that favour the Russian heavily. He lost only point on his first serve in the entire match and with that sort of play, you will hardly if ever lose.
