Milos Raonic put forward a great performance especially in key moments to reach the
Paris Masters semifinal.
It took Milos well over two hours to win the match against Humbert and he did it saving three match points in the process and winning 6-3 3-6 7-6(7). A very interesting matchup was the one between Milos Raonic and
Ugo Humbert. Two players who have served pretty good throughout the event clashed today in the quarterfinal. The opening set was better by Raonic as he did everything that Humbert did, but much better. He served better and played more consistently with fewer errors. Humbert didn't play as well as Raonic and that is why the Canadian took the break and won the opening set 6-3. The 2nd set was the opposite as Humbert did all of those things much better than Raonic. He served much better and played better with fewer mistakes than Raonic which is what allowed him to take the opening break which he maintained until the end of the set which he won 6-3.
The final set opened in a very fascinating fashion as Humbert had three consecutive break points in the opening game but Raonic saved all of them. Then Raonic had two break points in the next game but Humbert held on. After that, both players settled in nicely serving well so neither really had chances to go ahead. Points were extremely short ending with a winner or mistake by the other player. We ended up in a tiebreak where Humbert started better taking a mini-break. Raonic pulled it back but a bad sequence of points which included a double fault allowed Humbert to get a big lead 4-1. Milos didn't give up so easily and he saved 3 match points eventually taking the 7-6 lead. Humbert saved that match points but the 2nd Milos got he used to win the match.
