Daniil Medvedev has claimed a maiden grass court title with victory at the
Mallorca Championships over
Sam Querrey in a 6-4, 6-2 victory for the World Number Two.
Medvedev secured it in style with an ace and it goes alongside 10 prior triumphs on the ATP Tour with all previously coming on hard courts.
This also sees the Russian establish himself as one of the leading contenders at Wimbledon next week with Novak Djokovic seemingly leading the way and the likes of Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem not involved in London.
After a closely fought opening set, he broke after Querrey double faulted four times in a game and was on the receiving end once more with four winners in a row from Medvedev which saw him serve for the title and like alluded to an ace secured it.
Next up will be Jan-Lennard Struff who he lost to in Halle earlier in June in a tough test despite his win in Spain this week.
