Osorio Serrano, Konjuh and Niculescu among qualifiers for Wimbledon main draw
With Wimbledon on the horizon, women's qualifying was concluded on Friday with Maria Camila Osorio Serrano and Ana Konjuh among those sealing spots in the main draw.
Osorio Serrano who came off the back of a stellar clay court surge albeit flattering to deceive at Roland Garros had never played professionally on grass until Nottingham a few weeks ago.
But has adapted to the surface quickly concluding three consecutive three-setters with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Nuria Parrizas Diaz concluding it with an all qualifier clash with Anna Kalinskaya awaiting.
While for Konjuh, it was even tougher as she faced Tsvetana Pironkova in a tie between two players firmly on the comeback trail. But it was the Croatian who returned to Wimbledon for the first time in three years with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win.
Others through included Monica Niculescu, Vitalia Diatchenko, Clara Burel and Wang Xinyu with many either facing wildcards, fellow qualifiers or big names in their openers.
