The 2020
ATP Finals are not the first for Daniil Medvedev, however, he managed to get his first victory against
Alexander Zverev just this year.
After a great 2019 season, Daniil Medvedev participated in his first ATP Finals. The young Russian didn't win a single match and the closest he got to the victory was when he led 5-1 in the third set against Rafael Nadal. However, he lost that lead and left London last year empty handed.
This year, however, it seems that Medvedev wants to leave London with much more than just a great experience of playing a final tournament. In his first match at the 2020 ATP Finals, he faced Alexander Zverev in the rematch of the 2020 Paris Masters final.
The Russian triumphed in Paris in 3 sets, and he showed that he doesn't want it to be different in London. After losing his very first service game of the tournament, Medvedev added 2 breaks in the first set to win it 6-3 after he avoided 5 breakpoints in the 3rd game.
In the second set, there were much less breakpoints to witness. Medvedev had only 2 and he managed to convert one of those to win the second set 6-4 and get his first point of the 2020 ATP Finals. In the next match, he will be facing world number 1, Novak Djokovic.
