Stefanos Tsitsipas lost in the first round of the
ATP Finals to
Dominic Thiem in a very close match and after that, he spoke to the media.
It wasn't the start that he wanted as he lost to Dominic Thiem in the first round of the ATP Finals. After the match, Tstisipas broke down what happened that caused him to lose the game against Thiem. He said:
“He dealt with my serve better and took time [away], he stepped back and applied the pressure,” Tsitsipas reflected in his post-match press conference. “He put more pressure on me. Some of the second serve that I had early in the third set… and I think that paid off for him.”
One of the key moments in the first set was when Tsitsipas made something he called the silliest thing. He said:
“I had a ball over the net, and I decided to play a forehand instead of a smash. I don’t know what kind of decision that was, but it was very… it was not mature enough, you know?
He continued:
“Didn’t take time, just rushed and didn’t take time to think where I wanted to go and I used my strongest shot. He ended up blasting me with a lob, and I was in a defensive position afterwards.”
