Daniil Medvedev equaled Roger Federer in an incredible stat becoming the first player to do it since 2006 when the former legendary player did it.
Daniil Medvedev recently called the 2023 season the best start to a year he's ever had and it's true. He never had as successful of a start as this year and it kept going at the Miami Open. The Russian has now reached 5 ATP finals before the start of the clay season something that was done by Federer last and it happened a long time ago in 2006.
No player since then was able to reach 5 finals before the clay season began and it's an incredible feat for the Russian. He didn't reach any finals in Australia but he reached a final in Rotterdam and won it. Then he cleaned up Middle Eastern swing by winning both Dubai and Doha back-to-back. That's 3 finals and 3 trophies with the 4th final coming in Indian Wells recently.
That was a loss but still a final now he's gotten himself into the Miami Open final as well. That's a 5th one and tbd in terms of winning and losing but he beat Sinner earlier this year so he should fancy his chances.
