In a rematch of last year's US Open final,
Jannik Sinner pulled off an exhilarating comeback win over defending champion
Carlos Alcaraz to secure his spot in the
Miami Open final.
Sinner rallied from a set down to record a 6-7(4) 6-4 6-2 and advance to the final, with both men producing some sublime shot-making in their budding rivalry. After trailing 1-4 in the opening set, Alcaraz fought back to extend the match to a tiebreak. Although he was unable to prevent Sinner from winning arguably one of the best points of the year, the World No.1 pushed the first set to a tiebreak, where he prevailed in dramatic fashion.
Nonetheless, it was Sinner who dominated the rest of the match. The 10th seed matched Alcaraz's power and pace, employing some delectable shot-making as he claimed the second set. With a spot in the final at stake, both men left it all on the court. However, it was Sinner who ended the Spaniard's dream of winning the Sunshine Double, snapping Alcaraz's 10-match winning streak and leveling their head-to-head meetings at 3-3.
Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev in Sunday's final, as the Russian defeated compatriot Karen Khachanov to secure his spot earlier in the day.
