Medvedev hopes focusing on his game will be enough

Daniil Medvedev made a winning start at the Open 13 Provence and after the match, he explained his approach to this event after the disappointment in Rotterdam.

It has been a tough start for Medvedev in the Indoor events but he was able to bounce back in Marseille with a decisive win over Gerasimov. The Belarussian is a tough player to beat but Daniil made it look easy and after the match he spoke about it:

"I think Egor is always a good player on indoor hard courts. I actually think it was not his best match, especially at the beginning of the first set. He was doing some mistakes, I took advantage of it, so that's what I have to do"

He also explained his approach to this event after the disappointment in Rotterdam which is to mainly focus on himself and his game:

"I have to focus on myself. I feel like I was playing well."

And he will need to bring some of that A game to his next match as well as he is set to play Jannik Sinner which did not delight Medvedev too much as he explained that is kind of a hard draw:

"He's a really strong player, so it's going to be an interesting match. That's a tough draw. I could definitely have an easier draw with playing Egor straight away and Jannik in the quarters. But it's also good to play if you're actually ready to win the tournament or not."
