Former World No.3 Milos Raonic will not be competing at next year's Australian Open. as tournament organizers announced his withdrawal on Friday.
The Canadian struggled with calf and right leg injuries for most of the 2021 season, taking breaks during the year to recuperate. After losing in the first round at the Atlanta Open in July, Raonic took another hiatus and has not played since.
Although the 30-year old had hoped to compete at Melbourne Park, he was forced to withdraw from the event as he still had not recovered from an Achilles injury.
Raonic competed at the 2021 Australian Open, losing in the fourth round to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. The upcoming Grand Slam event kicks off on January 17, 2022.
