Daniil Medvedev unlike Aryna Sabalenka would not shy away from answering questions on the war between Russia and Ukraine.
While also reiterating his call for peace during his press conference. He made his return to
Wimbledon after being banned last year.
This also came after Sabalenka started her press conference with a statement reiterating that she wouldn't speak about politics ahead of likely questioning surrounding the war or President Lukashenko.
“I feel I can answer… I don’t like to force others to say anything. If anyone doesn’t want to raise his voice, that’s their position. Mine, I always said the same. I am for peace," he said.
Being prompted to clarify his position, he said he wasn't going to force others to voice their opinion as it was their own choice. While making his position known that he was against the war.
"The thing is that I have always said that I cannot talk for other players because I have always lived like this. I don't like to force others to say anything. If anyone doesn't want to raise his voice, that's his position. Mine, I always said the same. I am for peace. Yeah, not much more to add," Medvedev said.
