First-seeded Gael Monfils and second-seeded David Goffin reached semifinals at the 2020 Open Sud de France in Montpellier.

The two biggest favorites Gael Monfils and David Goffin continue in their journey at the 2020 Open Sud de France after another victory. However, what might have seemed like an interesting day for the French fans turned into a sad story. The duo was joined by Filip Krajinovic and Vasek Pospisil.
Gregoire Barrere opened the day against the seventh-seeded Filip Krajinovic. The Serbian went on to win the first set quickly 6-2, however, he had problems in the second. After turning away 3 breakpoints in the 7th and 9th game, Barrere had 2 set points in the 10th. But the Frenchman wasn't successful and his opponent managed to win 3 games in a row to win the set 7-5 and book the semifinal spot.
There, it will be another French player that he will take on. Home fans are cheering for the first-seeded Gael Monfils who can become the third French champion in a row in Montpellier. World number 9 defeated Slovakia's Norbert Gombos in the quarterfinals. Monfils did not need to spend more than 73 minutes on the court with his 6-3, 6-4 victory.
However, it is not going to be a 3rd straight all-French final at the Open Sud de France. There is no French player left in the second part of the draw after both Gasquet and 2019 finalist, Herbert lost their matches.
Richard Gasquet did not spend a lot of time on the court in his match against Vasek Pospisil. But it was not because of the dominance of the French player. The 2018 finalist had to pull out of the match in the second set. After 33 minutes he was losing 1-6, 0-1 and so the Canadian will be playing in the semifinals.
He will meet the second-seeded David Goffin. The Belgian played the longest quarterfinal match in Montpellier. After 100 minutes he defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 7-6.
