Gael Monfils has withdrawn from the Paris Masters just days after his exhibition match with Nick Kyrios has been announced.
The French player has been dealing with injuries in the past several months which coincided with the advanced pregnancy of his wife, Elina Svitolina. The Ukrainian tennis player recently gave birth and Monfils has been by her side the entire time.
He was supposed to make his comeback at the Paris Masters where he reached the final two times but he has now withdrawn from that event. He announced it on Twitter:
"Hi friends, as you have seen this week on stream, I am still limited in my trips on the court. I will therefore not be able to defend my chances at @RolexPMasters. I will take advantage of the end of the year to prepare for the next season."
Monfils seemingly indicated that his season is over although he is set to face Nick Kyrgios in Mexico in November.
