Patrick
Mouratoglou responded on Instagram, expressing his belief that
Novak Djokovic
could potentially achieve the milestone of 30 Grand Slam titles.
The French
coach is one of the most esteemed coaches globally, having worked with tennis
stars like Coco Gauff, Holger Rune, Simona Halep, and most notably, Serena
Williams. Together with Serena, they clinched 10 out of her 23 Grand Slam
titles.
After Novak
Djokovic's victory at the US Open, the Serbian player surpassed the Grand Slam
record of Serena Williams and Steffi Graf, reaching a remarkable 23 Grand Slam
titles in his career, equalling Margaret Court. This achievement places him
ahead of all male tennis players, with Rafael Nadal at 22 and Roger Federer at
20.
At the age
of 36, it's challenging to predict how long Novak Djokovic can continue playing
at his exceptional level as the world No. 1 and the top contender in every
Grand Slam he competes in.
A user on
Instagram sought Mouratoglou's opinion on how many more Grand Slam titles
Djokovic could potentially win in the coming years.
“How many
more grandslams Novak will wn before he call it a day Patrick?”
“I think he
can possibly break the 30 GS titles,” Mourtoglou respond.
Djokovic
continues to prove that he is as relevant as ever. At Flushing Meadows, he only
dropped sets in his match against fellow Serbian Laslo Djere, who took the
first two sets but couldn't maintain the lead. Djokovic didn't concede any more
sets throughout the tournament.
The world
No. 1 has reached 9 finals in his last 10 Grand Slam appearances since 2021 and
has emerged victorious in 7 of them. His only "disappointments" were
the losses in the final of the 2021 US Open to Daniil Medvedev and the 2023
Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz.
The only
time he didn't make it to the final in these three years was at the 2022 French
Open when he was defeated by the multi-time Roland Garros champion, Rafael
Nadal. This remarkable record stands at 65-3 in Grand Slams over the past three
years.
