Murray continues to hint retirement after Battle of the Brits win over Draper but pleased with signs: "It's the hardest I've worked in a long time these last couple of months"

Andy Murray played a superb match to down Jack Draper in the Battle of the Brits event making the score 1-1 between England and Scotland.

Murray talked a lot about preparing well for the 2023 season by improving his overall fitness and it seems to have worked. His first match was certainly an impressive one as he beat Jack Draper 6-2 1-6 12-10 at the Battle of the Brits event. After day one the score between England and Scotland is 1-1.

Speaking after the match, Murray said:

"Will to win, fighting for every point, chasing every ball down, came up with some part-luck, part-skill shots at the end, a few of them came off."

Speaking further he added:

"I wish [I could go on for ever in tennis], unfortunately that's not going to happen. I have put in a lot of hard work, it's the hardest I've worked in a long time these last couple of months. I need to keep going because it's not perfect yet, but the signs are good."

The win was a good start for Murray and certainly proof that he's going to be better this year than last one.
