Andy Murray faced Dan Evans at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi and the Brit earned the chance to play Rafael Nadal tomorrow with a 6-3 6-2 win.
Both Murray and Nadal have had a lot of injuries over the course of their career and both have been able to carve out spectacular tennis careers regardless. Tomorrow, they will face for the first time in a while and it's going to be a proper spectacle for all tennis fans. The chance to play Nadal did not come easy for Murray as he had to defeat compatriot Dan Evans for it.
Murray played a very good match against his compatriot despite Evans not playing his best. Both showed rust after not playing for several weeks but it was Murray who was sharper. Evans opted for a bit riskier player that resulted in a lot of errors early in the match. Those errors piled up and Murray was able to take a 5-1 lead.
Closing out the set proved very tough as Murray encountered a more precise Evans in the final few games. The Brit reduced the gap to 5-3 and almost made it 5-4 but some timely serving bailed Murray out. The start of the 2nd set featured some more errors by Evans who found himself down 0-3 rather quickly. He pulled one break back but lost his serve once more unable to find a rhythm.
From there it was mostly routine to finish off the match which Murray did with 6-2. He will place Rafael Nadal for a place in the final tomorrow. Don't miss it and if you do we will have a recap for you.
