Andy Murray won two matches in the Moselle Open main draw and the British player is through to the quarterfinal.
It's a rare quarterfinal appearance for Murray at an event where the field is very solid. His wins came over two very solid players in Humbert and Pospisil with both of them possessing games that suit the indoor conditions very well. After his win over Pospisil Murray said:
“This period has been the most tournaments I’ve played [recently] and my body feels good and I’m starting to gain just a little bit of confidence with each match. [I’m] starting to see the points and how I want to play them again, which is great."
That is an encouraging sign for Murray who admitted that in the past year he wasn't quite reading tennis very well on the court:
“There have been times in the past year where I’ve been a little bit confused and not seeing how the points are developing and stuff, which for me was always a strong part of my game and it made me feel quite uncomfortable on the court when I was feeling that way. I’m starting to get that back and the results are coming and my tennis is getting better.”
Murray will face either Hubert Hurkacz or Lucas Pouille next and whoever wins that match will be a very tough challenge for Murray. But, as he noted he is feeling good and his confidence is getting better so he will fancy his chances.
