Rafael Nadal and Taylor Fritz are set for a final duel at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco later this evening.
Nadal will aim for a hat trick of titles to cap off another almost flawless week in Mexico where he now sits on a potential hat trick.
It will be a 122nd career final for the legendary Spaniard who shows no signs of slowing down and he is into his first of 2020 as a result.
This came after easing past Grigor Dimitrov last night in what was a
6-3, 6-2 win. The mark of the performance came due to Nadal coming from a break down in both sets to win through.
In terms of tournament statistics he is almost flawless. The Spaniard leads the tournament in return games won (58%, 19 of 33) and has converted 19 of 28 break points (68%).
Fritz on the other hand came from the brink to defeat John Isner to face off against Nadal. He was a set and 2-4, 0/40 down and would have been hoping to just make the scoreline respectful but came back to complete the stunning comeback.
It is a first meeting between the pair but to win his first ATP 500 title Fritz will know that he will need to show tenacity to overcome Nadal.
