The Mutua Madrid Open will go ahead in September and 5x champion Rafael Nadal has committed to playing in it. Nadal is a player who loves playing on clay and who loves playing in Spain. So for all of those who enjoy watching Rafa play on Spanish clay today was a good day. It was a good day because tournament director Feliciano Lopez announced on his twitter that Nadal has given his yes to playing in Madrid this year.

The announcement was made in Spanish but the full English translation is:

“I talked to my friend Rafael Nadal and he has confirmed his participation in Madrid next September! We wait for you as always with open arms in the Magic Box!”

As if that wasn't proof enough Rafael Nadal responded to the tweet with his own one that read:

“So it is Feli. See you in September in Madrid.”

It's a great thing for the event to have one of the most prominent players committing to it as it will surely impact the decision of many others as well. We will surely be watching.
