Nadal eased past Lajovic 6-1, 6-3 to reach the latter stages and he will face Diego Schwartzman tomorrow who himself came from a set down to beat Hubert Hurkacz 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Spaniard has only lost six games in his first two matches after nearly 7 months out and as a result has wasted little time on the courts of Rome ahead of his Roland Garros defence.

In terms of statistics, his winning percentage stood at 62% on his 1st serve and 71% on his second serve. He claimed 6/14 on break points with his opponent on 2/4.
