Nadal on potentially playing until 40 like Federer: "You never know what can happen"

Rafael Nadal would not rule out playing until he is forty years old explaining that he doesn't know what will happen.

As Nadal racked up the years so did the question about how long he will play start appearing. It's something that all older players are getting daily with Djokovic and Murray being asked them as well. The Spaniard recently revealed that he plans to play until his body allows him to which is a sensible response but also one that makes it impossible to know when that will come.

That's why he didn't rule out playing until forty like Federer nor confirm that he's going to do it because he simply doesn't know:

"I don't know I can't predict the future. It looks difficult, honestly, but at the same time, when I was 28 or 29, for me was super difficult to imagine myself playing at the age of 36, and here we are - In a high position on the ranking and being competitive."

He continued:

“You never know what can happen. It always depends on different facts; some of them you are able to control, and others you don't have the chance to control. So, let's say I am super happy to be where I am at the age of 36 and a half. Let's see, I just want to keep going and enjoy the fact that I am playing every year, which, for me, is a present."
