Alexander Zverev released the trailer of his upcoming documentary on his horrific injury and comeback where he made claims that he would have won Roland Garros if he didn't get injured.
Zverev was seen talking about the injury in the trailer explaining that he could have gotten the number one rank and his first grand slam that week if he didn't injure himself. Those are the only two things missing from his career according to Zverev which is true. Even so, tennis fans berated him on social media for the comment made with some reactions following below.
The reactions were made in response to tennis reporter Scott Barclay saying that he believes Nadal would have won anyway. He wrote:
"My controversial opinion is that even if Zverev hadn't injured himself in that match, Nadal still would have won it."
Reactions from fans were this:
"It shouldn't be controversial at all? zverev peaked in set one and still choked it away and ppl think Mr 1-12 v top 10 at grand slams would beat nadal on chatrier?????????"
"Not controversial, Nadal have lost only 1 match out of 100s after winning the 1st set at RG, and that's 2021 SF against Novak. To think that much of a rare occurrence would happen again is preposterous"
"One thing about that abuser he’s gonna DF on a important moment. Yup nadal was still winning that French open semi final with or without zverev breaking that foot sksksk"
"How tf is this even controversial? Just ridiculous how many wanna believe Zverev would've won from a set down. Especially after the way Rafa won the first."
