Important news from Nadal. First charter is in 10 days…
Rafael Nadal non-committal regarding Australia. Says he has to speak with his team to figure out what’s next. Says Abu Dhabi was positive overall.
After several months of rehabbing foot surgery, Rafael Nadal returned to tennis courts in Abu Dhabi for the exhibition event. He played two matches at the event losing to both Murray and Shapovalov. The Spaniard showcased his level which included some rust but also saw him play fairly competitively. After his Shapovalov match, Nadal spoke to the media where he surprised many with his Australian Open stance.
Asked about the event, Nadal was non-commital explaining that he will make a decision after speaking with his team in depth. Nadal was pressed whether there was a physical problem to which Nadal responded that everything was fine and that Abu Dhabi was a positive experience for him. Nadal is on the official entry list and is yet to withdraw so it seems the Spaniard will play.
However only time will tell. First charter flights into Australia are in 10 days. By then we should know.
