"Never say never" says Andy Murray as he makes a U-turn on Davis Cup comments

Andy Murray recently made comments that implied he would not play for Team GB at the Davis Cup Finals if he got nominated.

Team Great Britain announced its team and there won't be any Andy Murray despite the Brit being the key component of their 2015 win. He lead the team and sealed the victory in the final with a brilliant performance against David Goffin. Murray himself admitted a few days ago that he won't be looking for selection in order to better prepare for the 2022 season but after his win over Hurkacz he made a bit of a U-turn:

"Never say never, maybe I could be convinced to play. When I was getting asked about it, I had six weeks in a row planned. I am not young, I need to rest as well. When I have played, the Davis Cup has always been physically very demanding."

Murray also spoke about his determination to play for the national team in the past saying that oftentimes he played matches he probably should not have played:

‘At times I’ve played matches when I probably shouldn’t have. There were many times when I was younger where I had injuries and the team and everyone knew about that and sort of made me play. When you’re playing for your country and stuff, there’s always an extra pressure when people are trying to get you to play because you don’t want to let your team down."
