The draw opened nicely for the Australian player this year but he also did his part in playing pretty strong tennis to get here. Garin is not a great player on grass but he earned his place in this quarterfinal. The start of the match seemed to confirm that as the Chilean player took an early lead in this one. He was up 3-1 but then lost 3 games in a row for the 3-4 score.
From there Kyrgios kept applying pressure and eventually, Nick was able to get the opening set 6-4. It was a shaky set from Kyrgios so getting it done was huge for him. The 2nd set was another one where Kyrigos faced issues but he was still able to wiggle himself out of it. Garin had many break chances but his conversion was rather poor as Kyrgios always produced a good serve when he needed to.

After getting the 2nd set with 6-3 Kyrgios was in a very good sport. Still, the Chilean did not give up and once again he had break points in the 3rd set. We ended up in a tiebreak which was great. It was an up and down affair for both with both squandering very big chances. In the end, it was Kyrgios who proved better taking it 7-5.
