Nick Kyrgios made a dig at Jannik Sinner on social media after being replied to with a picture of his former girlfriend, Anna Kalinskaya who currently dates the World No.1.
The WTA World No.15 started dating Sinner earlier this year and has been seen in his box throughout their public relationship including at the US Open. Kalinskaya has courted attention from photographers with her outfits and fashion sense being lauded.
On Saturday though, Kyrgios replied to a photo of himself and Kalinskaya at an LA Lakers game back in 2020 with a two word comment which got an interesting reaction and also continued his war of words surrounding Sinner.
The Aussie has been vocal since the news broke that Sinner was found to have 'bore no fault or negligence' for two anti-doping violations after testing positive for the substance Clostebol twice in March. But Kyrgios in particular has been a vocal critic of the situation with Sinner also asked whether he would be interviewed by Kyrgios for ESPN as a result.
Some others on social media have questioned whether Kyrgios merely harbours resentment due to his previous relationship with Kalinskaya. One that ended fractiously. He responded to an old photo of the duo saying: "Second serve."
But Kyrgios amid it being shared responded questioning why he should be perceived as a bad guy for such a comment. "Right… so I’m the one that’s the bad guy for saying something about it? I never brought it up lol don’t take offence if people are gonna bring it up. Simple," he wrote.
He was then called out for abusive language to which Kyrgios feigned ignorance and said that if people want to go there, they have to deal with the response. "Abusive? What’s abusive about what I said? I had no intention to say anything about it. People wanna go there deal with the consequences."
