Kei Nishikori has been one of the unluckiest players in modern tennis with the Japanese player simply not being able to stay healthy consistently.
The amount of injuries the Japanese player has had during his career is staggering and in the past few years, it's only getting worse. Nishikori was slated to return to tennis in Vienna however another injury setback forced him to pull out. That injury forced him to pull out of the
Paris Masters next week as well and his season is officially over.
Unlike other injuries, this new injury raised concern amongst his camp whether the Japanese player would be able to stay healthy at all because it's his back. Nishikori has had back issues since very young and because of the difficulty of recovering from a recurring back injury, people in his camp are concerned.
His injury problems have been noted by fellow pros as well such as Rafael Nadal who recently described Nishikori as a top player with terrible injury luck:
"Kei is obviously a top player having been playing for a long time on the Tour. Unfortunately he has been hindered by repeated injuries. Without these injuries he can be definitely one of top five players and make semis at Slams regularly."
