Cameron Norrie and Brandon Nakashima will play in the Mifel Open final after victories over Taylor Fritz and John Isner.
There won't be an all-American final in Los Cabos as Cameron Norrie spoiled that delight by winning comfortably over Taylor Fritz. The winner of that match was never in doubt as Norrie came out in rhythm and bested Fritz at his game. Norrie served well and was too solid from the baseline against the American who was far off his best.
Fritz apparently suffered an elbow injury which created an odd situation rarely seen on tour when the physio refused to give him a MTO. In the end, it did not matter as Norrie cruised 6-3 6-1.
Norrie will get to chance to win his first ATP title against a 19-year old super talenet player in Nakashima who will be playing in his first final. Nakashima has been playing great tennis all week and it all culminated with a strong victory over the heavily favoured John Isner. Isner has not played sensationally in Los Cabos but the American is always tough to beat.
Nakashima served great all match along never allowing Isner a whiff of a break ball. He was also able to find ways to overcome Isner's immense serve. Nakashima attacked John's 2nd one and he did it with great success winning over 50 % of his 2nd serves. In the end, he closed it out with 7-5 6-4.
