Australia’s tennis star
Nick Kyrgios stated in favour of the
WTA competition final ahead of the ATP final.
The 28-year-old is one of the most outspoken players in the
circuit and that has sparked controversies over the years.
While responding to journalist José Morgado on social media platform
X previously known as Twitter, Kyrgios spoke highly of the WTA final of the
Warsaw Open that featured world number one
Iga Swiatek ahead of the ATP
final of the Croatia Open that featured the former world number one Stan
Wawrinka.
In the WTA 250 final, Swiatek defeated Laura Siegemund of Germany
in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-1 to lift the title.
In the Croatia Open, it was Australia’s Alexei Popyrin who
came out on top with a score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
Kyrgios is currently spending time off from a lengthy injury
layoff and it is because of this reason he has missed all the Grand Slams this
year.
The former world number 13 will be hoping to return to court
as soon as possible and restart from where he stopped last year which was
undoubtedly his best year at the highest level.
Kyrgios played his maiden and till now only Grand Slam
final in 2022 at Wimbledon where he was defeated by legendary Serbian tennis
star Novak Djokovic with a score of 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6(7–3).
