Italy’s
Jannik Sinner had an interesting response when he
was asked about being spotted with a girl during his first press conference
ahead of the
French Open. The second Grand Slam of the year is set to begin on
Sunday as players from all over the world have started reaching the capital of
France to battle and secure the ultimate prize.
Sinner appeared in front of the media ahead of the big event, where the first question he was asked about was a girl he was spotted with in the recent past in Copenhagen. “I saw some pictures of you walking around in
Copenhagen with a girl this week. Just wondered what you were doing in
Copenhagen and who the girl was?” was the question asked by the journalist. In
response to that, Sinner stated that he had just met a few people for a photo shoot
and nothing else. “Uh, no, it was no girl. I had to do some business, just a
couple of photo shoots there. That's it. Nothing else,” he responded.
Sinner will be amongst one of the favourites to lift the title
in Paris, along with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. The three-time Grand
Slam winner had an impressive outing at the
Roland Garros last year as well
where his journey ended at the semifinals stage where he lost to the young
Spaniard in a five-set thriller with a score of 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Talking about his chances ahead of the mega-event, Sinner stated that he is
aware of the demands and believes that he must improve certain areas of his
game to go all the way.
“Yeah, experience amazing, no? It's something very, very
special playing here in Italy, in Rome,” he said. “They pick me up like a small
child, no? The support was amazing. For sure, there are some things like we saw
today, what we have to improve if we want to do good in Paris. I am closer than
expected in a way of everything. But in the other way, it was good. It was a
great week for me.”
