World No.1
Novak Djokovic is showing no sigh of slowing down, as the Serbian approaches a record-extending 400th week as the top-ranked player in the world.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion performed at an extremely high level during the 2023 season, winning three of the four Major titles. Furthermore, he finished the year ranked as World No.1 for the eighth time, in addition to winning over 90% of his matches this year.
Djokovic on the verge of 400 weeks as World No.1
Beginning November 20, 2023, Djokovic will enjoy his 400th week as the World No.1 player on the ATP Rankings table. The 36-year old has spent 25 weeks at the top spot in 2023, alternating with Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz before clinching the year-ending position at the start of the month.
Acknowledging the milestone achievement, Djokovic took to social media to ask fans how he should celebrate the occasion. The Serbian set up a poll, asking his supporters to join him in performing a challenge to commemorate the event.
Using the tag #Nole400, Djokovic gave four suggestions that involved performing 400 acts of a sporting activity, namely a 400m run, 400 bounces on a racket, 400 keepy uppies (with a soccer ball) and 400 jump ropes. Fans were quick to vote and give their suggestions, with the most popular being a tongue-in-cheek response by a witty fan.
"Take 400 days off to give other players a chance," wrote the fan.
