Novak Djokovic defeated Jenson Brooksby in four sets winning his 79th match at the US Open ever and that made him join an elite company consisting of Connors, Federer and Agassi.
The US Open is one of the biggest tennis events each year. The stadiums are always packed and the players genuinely enjoy playing at the event. Having success at the Open does not come easily which makes this latest Novak Djokovic even more impressive. By defeating Brooksby he reached 79 wins at the US Open which is officially 4th most in history.
The only players ahead of him are tennis legends Andre Agassi, Roger Federer and Jimmy Connors. Two of those players are retired and won't ever play a US Open match again which gives Djokovic the opportunity to overtake them. He is actually tied with Agassi for 79 currently with Federer having 89. Djokovic is in the quarterfinals which leaves him possibly with 3 more matches at this year's event.
He could technically overtake Federer as well but he will need to play the event a few more years which does seem likely. Jimmy Connors is far ahead with 98 wins and it's hard to see how Djokovic or anybody else could ever undertake that. Either way, this elite company shows that Novak Djokovic has been one of the best US Open performers ever.
