Novak Djokovic played two very different sets in his Tel Aviv opener but the end result was him leaving the arena with a victory over Andujar 6-0 6-3.
There was a lot of talk about Djokovic leading up to this event because he admitted in London that he was feeling some discomfort in his wrist and that's not something a tennis player wants to ever experience. Djokovic speculated that it was due to a heavy workload without much practice before and it seems he was right.
There was no indication of any discomfort in the opening set as Djokovic simply smashed Andujar. It was even more impressive than his win over Tiafoe in London and it took him only 29 minutes. He hit 13 winners in those six games which equates to two per game. That's pretty good.
The second set was far more competitive as Andujar actually produced some decent tennis. Djokovic toned it down a little bit as well but it was still an equally impressive showing. Had Andujar not played decently the score would have been fairly similar.
Djokovic patiently waited for his chance and then he took it at 4-3. It was 5-3 and swiftly 6-3. He had 8 aces and zero double faults. He also added 29 winners and only 8 unforced errors and it doesn't get any better than that.
