Novak Djokovic officially withdrew from the ATP 1000 event in Montreal as per a statement released by the organizers on Thursday.
It's been known for a few weeks now that Djokovic most likely won't play in Montreal but now it's official as the organizers confirmed his withdrawal. The Serbian can't enter Canada as an unvaccinated foreign national because the country has the same rules as the US. A minister confirmed a few weeks ago that the only way Djokovic could enter Canada was if he got vaccinated or the rules change.
Obviously, none of that happened which forced the Serbian to withdraw. The Serbian will be replaced by Nick Kyrgios in the main draw as the Australian was looking at having to play qualifiers to get in but now he doesn't. He might need to buy the Serbian dinner for it.
