Novak Djokovic stepped onto the
Roland Garros clay on Thursday and put forth his best performance on clay so far.
Novak Djokovic is having an extraordinary year as his only loss hasn't been a loss at all but a defaulting and his glorious run continued today at the Roland Garros. Ricardas Berankis has never bean a world-beater of a tennis player but even his valiant effort today wasn't a problem for Djokovic.
The first set was a warm-up for Djokovic, quite literally as it lasted only 23 minutes and the Serbian triumphed with 6-1. His play was sensational as he won all 14 first service points losing only five 2nd service points in the set at all. The 2nd set was more of the same for Djokovic but this time the result was 6-2 and he lost one 1st service point. Berankis played better which is evident as he had two break points but Novak saved them both.
Before the start of the 3rd set, Berankis took a medical timeout to deal with some issues despite his play not suggesting anything wrong. The timeout was quickly over and the play continued but the product on the court was once again more of the same. Djokovic was brilliant on his own serve and very measured on his opponent. He slowly created chances and seized every chance without any empathy. The end result in the set was 6-2 and Novak quickly through to the next round.
