Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic is now involved
in a three-way battle to keep his number one spot in the ATP Ranking.
The 36-year-old is often regarded as the greatest player in
the history of men’s tennis in the single category, having won as many as 24
Grand Slam titles. Djokovic had a fabulous time on the court in 2023 where he ended
up winning three out of four major titles.
However, as per the latest report, the Belgrade-born is now
involved in a three-way race to keep the top rank in the ATP Ranking. His
battle will begin with his defence of the
Australian Open.
The first Grand Slam of the year will begin on Sunday in
Melbourne where players from all over the world will showcase their talent to
get the ultimate prize. Djokovic, who will be defending his crown, will see a
drop of nearly 2,000 rating points which will bring the likes of Spain’s Carlos
Alcaraz and Russia’s
Daniil Medvedev in the race for the top spot.
Alcaraz, who was the
only player to win a major title other than Djokovic in 2023, has 8,865 at the
start of the campaign and will be less than 400 points behind the current world
number one. On the other hand, Medvedev has 7,555 points to his name.
