Novak Djokovic began his
Paris Masters with a match against Maxime Cressy and he won 7-6(1) 6-4 to move on.
It was not the greatest tennis by Djokovic but the Serbian did enough to ease himself into the Paris Masters event. He had a lot of success over the years here and won the event last year as well with this year's journey starting against Maxime Cressy.
The American player plays a really decent style with a lot of volleying and a very powerful serve. It was on full display early on in this match as Djokovic had to wait for Cressy's 4th service game to get to some break points.
He wasn't able to convert them and we ended up in a tiebreak. Djokovic completely outplayed the American to take it 7-1. He did not face a single break point and hit 10 winners in the 61 minutes of play. The second set was somewhat easier as the Serbian did not have to play another tiebreak.
He broke Cressy once and that proved enough to take it 6-4 and finish off the match. A very sturdy performance from Cressy who had 15 aces and 38 winners but not good enough as Djokovic chose his spots far better.
