Ex-coach of the world number one
Novak Djokovic,
Goran Ivanisevic,
has revealed that he could not understand why the legendary tennis player
yelled sometimes on the court. The 36-year-old is often regarded as the
greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the Open era, having won as
many as 24 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic recently parted ways with Ivanisevic after having
him as his coach for six years. The former Wimbledon winner was recently quoted
in a report where he recalled one incident when the reigning world number one
got mad at him for explaining something that was related to clouds and how it
was not helping him in his serve.
"That happened again and again. Then he yelled at me
again and everyone saw it. Sometimes I could understand him well in the
stadium, but sometimes not,” he said. “Maybe he wanted to know something about
the service - and then I told him something about the clouds that were just
over the arena. Then Novak got upset with me. But at least it was related to
me. And after five minutes it shut down again. He was able to let everything
out and then he was free again. Sometimes in tennis you need a quick shock to
hit a reset button in your head. I think the mental component is the most
important factor in this sport.”
