Federer is often regarded as one of the greatest players in
the history of men’s tennis in the Open era, having won 20 Grand Slam
titles in his illustrious career. The 42-year-old struggled with fitness
concerns towards the later stages of his career as he decided to retire from
the sport in 2022. Federer was the first men’s player in the history of tennis to
win more than 15 Grand Slam titles in the singles category. Similarly, he was
also the first player in men’s tennis to win 20 or more major titles.
