Despite training together and being seen at events, Jannik Sinner admits that him and Carlos Alcaraz don't speak that much if not at all off-court. But that there is a mutual respect there when they do play.
Instead of due to having an issue with each other though, it is solely due to them being different people and having their own hobbies and interests that extend to off court. Sinner was speaking in the lead-up to the Miami Open after losing to Alcaraz in the semi-finals at Indian Wells. As a result of this defeat, his streak ended at 19-0 stemming back to Davis Cup Finals last year and as a whole this season, he was sat at 16-0.
Now like The Undertaker in WWE, he has a weird one next to his streak. He also lauded Alcaraz though as well as discussing their relationship and his ability and mindset on court were two aspects that were heavily respected by the Australian Open champion..
"When we play against, it's a very good matchup, we both try our best. We have a lot of respect for each other and, obviously, off the court we don't speak that much because he has his own things and I have my things," Sinner said.
"He's a player who can show so many things and he has a lot of emotions. He shows really good fighting spirit and everyone is different no, I'm not showing so many emotions on the court but it works as well on my side," Sinner added.
