"One of the goals in this tournament is to grow with the pressure" - Alcaraz after handling McDonald in Cincinnati

Carlos Alcaraz suffered an upset loss to Tommy Paul in Montreal but he avoided that against another American Mackenzie McDonald.

It was a comfortable win for Alcaraz 6-3 6-2 as he was able to put behind the poor result from Montreal. Speaking after the match Alcaraz admitted being happy with the performance while highlighting his goal of growing with the pressure that comes with being one of the best in the world:

"I'm really happy with the performance today. One of the goals in this tournament is to grow with the pressure... to enjoy as I did at the beginning of the year and last year. To enjoy playing great tennis, to try to be relaxed. I think in this round I did it and I'm really happy with it."

Turning to the match itself Alcaraz noted the quickness of the court that makes the ball slide making it difficult to play:

"I think this court is fast, the ball slides a lot and it's difficult to play with that. I tried to be really focussed with his shots and to be aggressive, that's all."

Up next is a matchup against Cilic which will be a challenge in itself.
