Both Carreno Busta and Krajinovic did extremely well to reach the final and both of these players took down some serious competition along the way. Krajinovic was firing on all cylinders in the previous round but today he did not have quite his best. Carreno is a very sound player who does not give away much to his opponent and that proved key.
Krajinovic struggled to break through Carreno and his forehand was not on a brutal level like it was vs Tsitsipas for example. Carreno was able to force Krajinovic into rallies where he did not feel comfortable and that allowed him to win the opening set 6-2.
Krajinovic played slightly better in the 2nd set but Carreno never lost control of the match and when he felt the moment he simply turned it up a notch and broke the Serbian. After securing a break and lead he was able to maintain it for the rest of the set ultimately closing it out with 6-4.
A great week for Carreno Busta who wins his 6th career trophy at the Hamburg European Open. The win gives him his first ATP 500 win and some great memories which he will cherish for a long time.
