Jessica Pegula and
Coco Gauff added another win to their tally at the
Miami Open beating Danilina and Muhammad in straight sets 6-4 6-3.
The pairing has been playing well in Miami and they produced another solid effort to win in straight sets. It was largely expected as Pegula and Gauff are one of the best doubles pairs in the world. The first set was much closer than anticipated as they won it 6-4 but that was because Pegula and Gauff threw away an early lead.
They had to add another break, later on, to finish off the set but were barely able to do so. It was a type of match where they basically picked their spots. When they put in more effort things turned to their benefit quite quickly. That's what happened in the second set when they took things far more seriously and it worked out in their favour.
Pegula and Gauff played much better in the second set and for a while it seemed like they would be winning easily. They served for the match at 5-3 but lost the serve to prolong it a bit more. Eventually, we saw a tiebreak with the duo barely powering past their opponents after complicating things unnecessarily.
