Rafael Nadal improved to 11-0 on the season after winning his first match in Acapulco against Kudla and he was very happy about the outcome.
In his first action since his record-breaking 21st Grand Slam title, the
Acapulco fourth seed picked up where he left off with a 6-3, 6-2 win
over Denis Kudla
on Tuesday. Nadal was in command throughout on the Mexican hard court
and showed few signs of rust after three weeks out of competition. After the match, he said:
"It has been a positive match. I think I started playing well, a good victory in straight sets. That's always very positive for the confidence. I think I played a very solid match for the first day. Of course, there are a couple of things that I can do better, but in general terms, I played well so I can't complain at all."
Nadal will face Kozlov next with the young American getting a chance to play in the event as a lucky loser. Kozlov won his match against Dimitrov in the first round and funnily enough, he was playing Nadal in a practice match at the time when he got the call to rush to the venue to play against Dimitrov.
