The final day of the Laver Cup arrives with Team Europe leading the tie and looking to reclaim the trophy, this time in London. Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev will headline the European challenge as two of their key weapons, with Europe needing just two wins from the four matches available to secure victory.

Team World, meanwhile, enters the final day in a much more desperate position. After beginning the second day with victories for Learner Tien and Alex de Minaur, they briefly took the lead before Alcaraz, Zverev and Casper Ruud responded with the next wins to put Europe back in front at 7-5 heading into Sunday.

Each match is worth three points on Sunday, the highest value of the entire weekend, and Team World knows exactly what it needs: at least three wins from the four available matches to have a realistic chance of overturning the tie. It is an extremely demanding task, but not an impossible one — as Saturday itself already demonstrated.

Flavio Cobolli / Jakub Mensik vs. de Alex De Minaur / Taylor Fritz

A crucial match for Team World’s hopes, as they need all three possible victories and know that the singles picture looks difficult, with Europe the clear favorite in at least two of those encounters. Andre Agassi’s gamble is clear: rely on the experience of two of his most seasoned players to get the day off to the perfect start, with this being the first time this American-Australian pairing has taken the court together.

Fritz’s serve, which has made him a dangerous doubles player in his previous Laver Cup appearances, should complement de Minaur’s strong net play — a combination that Team World needs to click immediately if it wants to keep its comeback hopes alive.

Alexander Zverev vs. Learner Tien

Zverev (No. 2) is a strong favorite, but he arrives carrying the frustration of his surprise defeat to de Minaur on Saturday, when he squandered a clear 5-3 lead in the second set before also failing to convert a match point in the deciding tiebreak.

The two-time Grand Slam champion this year is also the most experienced player in Laver Cup history, having recorded more victories than anyone else in the competition — a factor that could easily tip the balance in his favor.

But the American has something to say about that. Tien (No. 13) already knows what it takes to beat a Top-10 player after defeating Cobolli on Saturday, improving to a notable 8-8 record against players inside the ATP Top 10.

The head-to-head stands at 2-1 in Zverev’s favor, with all three meetings coming in 2025. At this stage, with a more mature Tien carrying considerably more experience on the Tour, the American could be a threat to the German if he produces his best tennis. However, if Zverev produces the level he has been showing over the past few months, he should have the tools to secure another victory for Team Europe.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Alex De Minaur

Alcaraz (No. 3) comes into this match after an extremely difficult battle with Fritz, eventually defeating the American after saving two match points. Anything can happen at the Laver Cup, but de Minaur will need almost a miracle to trouble a Spaniard who has shown a high level throughout the weekend despite having had little competitive action following a four-month injury layoff.

De Minaur (No. 9) arrives full of confidence after his surprise victory over Zverev on Saturday, reducing his head-to-head deficit against the German to 4-8. Against Alcaraz, however, the story remains unchanged: he is still without a victory in six meetings against the Spaniard.

Across the 15 sets they have played, de Minaur has won just two compared to Alcaraz’s 13. All six defeats have come against the Spaniard, including two finals and their most recent meeting in the Australian Open quarterfinals at the beginning of the year.

This could be a decisive match if Europe manages to secure at least one victory from the opening two encounters, adding another layer of pressure for both players at this stage of the tie.

Rafael Jodar vs. Taylor Fritz

After saving Alcaraz and Zverev for the first couple of singles matches of the day, Yannick Noah opted to give Rafael Jodar (No. 14) the chance to feature in a potential deciding match — something that would only happen in the event of a complete European collapse, with Alcaraz or Zverev losing earlier in the day.

Fritz (No. 10) is undoubtedly Team World’s biggest weapon, and if this match is played with the tie still alive, the American would clearly enter as the favorite. However, Jodar is the type of player capable of surprising anyone when he finds his best level.

Noah could have opted for Mensik, the 2025 Miami Open champion who has shown remarkable consistency and remains in strong form, or even the experienced Casper Ruud. Instead, the French captain chose the 19-year-old Spaniard.

With confidence, Jodar is capable of dispatching Fritz with a convincing scoreline. On a bad day, however, he could struggle to find solutions and end up winning only a handful of games. There is no doubt that it is a risky choice from the French captain.

The two players have met twice this year, with Fritz winning both encounters — the most recent coming in the DC Open final two months ago. That amount of time can be enough for a rapidly improving player like Jodar to find solutions against a difficult opponent.

The Spaniard will undoubtedly be looking for revenge, while also having a major opportunity to further enhance his remarkable first season as a professional if the match ends up being played as a decisive rubber.
