The
US Open 2023 is set to begin in less than five days’
time where players from all over the world will participate to showcase their talent
at the highest level.
Like every year, a list has been announced of a potential quarterfinal
draw to excite the fans and this year it has been no different.
The list is finally out and the fans will be extremely
excited to see some of the best going to head-to-head in the last-eight phase
of the tournament.
The most exciting potential quarterfinal clash of the tournament
is likely to be between the current world number one Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz and
the world number six Italy’s
Jannik Sinner.
Both players are termed by many as the best in the younger
generation and therefore, the clash is likely to be a feisty one.
Alcaraz and Sinner have met seven times in professional tennis
where the Spaniard has a slight edge with four wins compared to three from the
Italian tennis star.
Another mouthwatering potential contest will be between the
current world number two Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic and world number seven Greece’s
Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Both players have faced off 13 times in professional tennis where
the 23-time Grand Slam winner has a clear edge with 11 wins compared to just
two victories of the 25-year-old.
However, Tsitsipas and Djokovic met just four times on the
Hard Court where both went on to win two times each.
Last year’s US Open runner-up world number five Norway’s Casper
Ruud is likely to face the world number four Denmark’s
Holger Rune in the
quarterfinal of the mega-event.
The last quarterfinal is likely to be an all-Russian affair
where the current world number three
Daniil Medvedev can face fellow countryman
the world number eight
Andrey Rublev at the Flashing Medows.
