Rafael
Nadal is enjoying a vacation with his wife, María Francisca Perelló, and their
son while he recovers from his injury.
The Spanish
tennis player has been off the courts since his participation in the 2023
Australian Open, where he was defeated in the second round by American
Mackenzie McDonald.
Nadal
postponed his return during the early months due to a hip injury that ruled him
out of the
French Open, and he eventually decided to close the year to focus on
his recovery. He also announced that he hopes 2024 can be his last season
competing in his favorite tournaments.
The
37-year-old Spaniard hasn't made many public appearances since then, but he
shared with his fans on social media that he is enjoying his vacation with his
wife María Francisca Perelló and their son, by posting a photo of the family by
the sea.
"Holidays....holidays,"
Nadal wrote on Instagram.
The 22-time
Grand Slam champion is in the Corinth Canal in Greece, as he had announced two
weeks ago. However, this time, he appeared in a photo alone, sitting on the
railing of a boat in the Mediterranean Sea
“Good
morning ☀️ For now enjoying the sea and a few
days of total disconnection with my family. Do I keep you informed of my
vacations? 😉”
In the
press conference where he announced his decision to step away from the ATP tour
and return in 2024 for his last year of competition, Nadal mentioned that he
had plans to enjoy time with his family during the following months before his
potential comeback.
“Now I have
plans for the coming months, I'll be able to enjoy not having fixed schedules,
and then, this last grand finale that's worth it for this final year, will be
special. What may happen will be determined by my tennis and my body. If it
responds well, I have faith that I'll achieve something worthwhile for the
effort.”
